Founder and CEO
Dorothy Dapaah is a devoted wife, mother, full time worker and Founder & CEO for the Health Support Foundation. During the journey of helping a dear friend 32 years, with three kids fight the battle of cancer in 2011, Dorothy discovered the urgent need of helping kids and their sick parents. Soliciting for assistance in any shape was her priority to make life more comfortable and enjoyable. In January 2012, her dear friend Baraka Ibrahim went to be with Lord, living behind a five-year old son, three and one year old daughters.
Trying to establish a formal organization, Dorothy decided to partner with a friend who had firsthand experience with challenges of being diagnosed with terminal illness and raising kids. The direct impact on the children’s daily living was evident. In 2012, Dorothy Dapaah and Lousier Ussher registered non-for profit organization Health Support Foundation. On November 29, 2014, Lousier Ussher went to be with the Lord after fighting breast cancer for six years living behind three cute girls.
On November 24, 2014, Dorothy endured childbirth complications, losing 3.9 liters of blood and having emergency hysterectomy after 6 hours in surgery. Not to mention other complications which kept her at the hospital intensive care unit for 7 days. According to medical research, majority of women who go through this kind of complication die and miss the opportunity of raising their babies. 303,000 women die every year from complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
Dorothy’s personal experience has influenced her focus on the motherless children. Dorothy believes no child should be left without a mother, if all women will be willing to be a mother to the motherless.
Dorothy will be leading the management team and will provide overall strategic direction HSF. Dorothy source will liaise with external partners and donors in sourcing for funds and developing partnerships. Dorothy holds over a decade of experience in financial advisory and consulting. She currently works at Deloitte LLP. Dorothy resides in Virginia where she lives with her husband, Maxwell Dapaah, and their three children.
